Chalk Couture
What Chalk Couture Costs
Real numbers rather than a range somebody guessed. Product prices below come straight out of my own store and are checked against it regularly, and the designer figures are what Chalk Couture charges.
By Debbie Westbrooks, Chalk Couture's highest selling designer of all time and the only designer to hold Legend status in both sales and sponsoring. Prices and product lists checked 2026-08-28.
Supplies
Prices observed in my store as of 2026-08-28. Where a range is shown, the number of products it is drawn from is stated, because a range built from four products and a range built from forty are different kinds of claim.
| Item | Range | Typical | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Transfer, reusable | $13 to $35 | $18 | Based on 19 current prices. Reusable 8 to 12 times. |
| Heat transfer, single | $10 | $10 | Based on 5 current prices. One time use, permanent on fabric. |
| Blank surface | $7 to $30 | $11 | Based on 10 current prices. Boards, notebooks, card packs. |
| Collection or bundle | $33.75 to $265 | $50 | Based on 5 current prices. A whole themed release in one order. |
Chalkology Paste and Chalkology Ink are not in the table yet. I list all 40 paste colors and 27 ink colors with a link to each, and rather than quote a figure I am not currently checking, the link is the honest place to see the price.
Becoming a designer
| Cost | Amount | When |
|---|---|---|
| Enrollment | Changes, check the current options | Once, to join |
| Designer Access Pass | $20 per month plus tax | Every month |
| Personal volume minimum | A quarterly minimum | Every quarter, from sales or your own orders |
The monthly fee is the one figure I will stand behind here. It is $20 per month plus tax, checked against Chalk Couture's own support documentation on 2026-08-29, and it works out around $240 a year. Enrollment and the quarterly minimum have both changed over the years and I would rather send you to the current page than quote you a stale number. The volume is also not money out the door in the way the fee is, because your own purchases count toward it. The whole picture is on how to become a designer .
What a first project actually runs
One transfer, one jar of paste, one surface. Using the typical prices above that is around $18 for the transfer and $11 for a blank board, plus the paste. If you would rather have everything at once, Chalk Couture sells enrollment kits built to contain what you need to start, which is why some people join for a kit and never sell anything.
The number that changes the arithmetic
A transfer is reusable, and I get 8 to 12 projects out of one. An $18 transfer used ten times is $1.80 a project. That is the part that gets left out of "is it expensive", because the up front number and the cost per finished piece are very different figures and only one of them is what you actually pay over time.
It cuts the other way too. If you are honestly only going to make one sign, the cost per project is the full price of the transfer, and there are cheaper ways to make one sign. I go through that trade properly on is Chalk Couture worth it.
Prices move
Chalk Couture retires designs and runs sales, so anything here is what my store showed on 2026-08-28. Every product name on this site links through to the live listing, and that listing is always the real answer.
Questions I get about cost
How much does it cost to start Chalk Couture?
As a customer, one transfer and one jar of paste. As a designer, there is a one time enrollment cost that has changed over the years, then $20 per month plus tax for the Designer Access Pass. Check the enrollment page for the current joining figure rather than a number on a blog.
How much is a Chalk Couture transfer?
Of the 19 transfers I have current prices for, they run $13 to $35 with a median of $18. Larger multi piece designs sit at the top of that range and simple single designs at the bottom.
How much is a Chalk Couture heat transfer?
Single heat transfers are $10, which makes them the cheapest way into a project. They are one time use, so the cost does not amortize the way a reusable transfer does.
Is there a monthly fee for Chalk Couture?
For designers, yes. It is $20 per month plus tax for the Designer Access Pass, which is what keeps your shop open. There is no monthly fee if you are just buying products as a customer.
What is the Chalk Couture quarterly minimum?
You need a minimum amount of personal volume each quarter to keep designer status. It can come from customer sales, your own purchases, or inventory orders, so it is not a quota you have to sell your way out of. The amount has moved over the years, so check the current figure rather than trusting a blog.
Do Chalk Couture transfers get cheaper the more you use them?
Effectively, yes, and this is the number people leave out. I get 8 to 12 uses out of a transfer. An $18 transfer used ten times is $1.80 a project, which is what makes the up front price look different once you have been doing it a while.
